I can remember when Women Veterans were told to join the Women's Memorial Post in Nassau County. I went there fior a dinner and won a $250 raffle. I donated the winnings back to the Women's Post. Women veterans should get the same fairness and treatment as male veterans at the VA. I can recall Disabled Veteran Rachel Taylor was assaulted and molested at the Manhattan VAMC. American Legion national staff and Department of California Legionnaires are teaming up for a district revitalization and veterans outreach effort March 22-24 in the Los Angeles area. Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend to get assistance and learn about American Legion programs.
The effort will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 22 and 23, and 9 a.m.-noon March 24 at Palisades American Legion Post 283, 15247 La Cruz Drive, Pacific Palisades.
A county veterans service officer will be available all three days to assist with Department of Veterans Affairs-related issues and other veterans benefits questions.
